Sunday Slice
Branding a late-night pizza joint in Toronto
“Extra cheese, pepperoni pizza.”
Sunday Slice is a concept built on the adventures of searching for the perfect late-night pizza slice in your neighbourhood after a big night out. The challenge for us was to take that idea and turn it into a brand, that like good pizza, you'd want to share with friends and family.
So, to get the project started, naturally, we ate pizza. Lots of pizza.
During a discovery session, the name came from a story on how the target audience would end their typical Saturday night after staying out until last call (Sunday morning)—on a hunt for a pizza shop to cure late-night munchies with the famous ‘Sunday Slice’.
The strategy for the brand was clear—pizza makes people happy—so it had to make you smile when you saw it. With that in mind, we designed a flexible identity with the comforting aesthetics of a 90’s pizza joint making it easily recognizable on social media and in the hands of foodies on city streets.
The result? Sunday Slice feels a bit nostalgic, like something you imagined a pizza shop would look like when you were a kid. We’re into it!
Diet starts tomorrow.
